Kaïa Kater Concert and Dance Workshop at NOTSTOCK 2015

NOTSTOCK is delighted to host musician, Kaïa Kater. One of the youngest performers in the Canadian old-time and folk communities, this 22-year-old plays the banjo, sings, and has her own unique take on Appalachian and Canadian folk music. Kaïa is an eclectic traditionalist, having quickly gained attention as one of the most promising young performers in the North American folk world.  In June 2014, Kaia released her first full-length album entitled Sorrow Bound, produced by Chris Bartos. 

Kaïa will perform Sept. 25 in Aleshire Theatre. Wild Hands opens at 7:30 p.m., and Kaïa takes the stage at 8:30 p.m.

Kaïa Kater will also lead a dance workshop, “Percussive Dance Traditions of Southern Appalachia: A Journey in Hambone and Flatfooting” in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall, Sept. 26, 11:00 a.m. to noon. All ages welcome!

Free and open to the public.
