Notstock Exhibit: On Display Now!

We have a fantastic exhibition on display NOW at the Gordon B. Olson Library gallery! The exhibit will be on view through September 20. 

Our featured NOTSTOCK poster artists Zeb Love, Eric Nyffeler, and John Hitchcock will attend a public reception for their exhibit in the gallery from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18. Be there or be square!

All NOTSTOCK activities are free and open to the public. Parking on the MSU campus is unrestricted after 5 p.m.

Zeb Love

Our third screenprinting guest is Pittsburgh-based artist, Zeb Love. Zeb is an illustrator, graphic designer, and photographer who is in demand as an illustrator for successful musicians such as the Avett Brothers, Fiona Apple, and Willie Nelson. His current medium is screen printing, and his meticulous limited editions are beautiful works of art.

Zeb Love will be live screenprinting in the Beaver Dam September 18-20th and will give a presentation in Aleshire Theatre (in Hartnett Hall) at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 19. His work, as well other guest artists John Hitchcock and Eric Nyffeler, is on display in the Gordon B. Olson Library through September 20. Check it out!

POTSTOCK Guest Brad Bachmeier

We are thrilled to be adding a second POSTOCK guest artist to our list. Meet North Dakota-native ceramicist, Brad Bachmeier! Brad is originally from Anamoose, North Dakota and is currently living south of Fargo with his wife Susan and their four children. Bachmeier serves as the Professor of Art Education at Minnesota State University Moorhead where in 2013, he was granted the “Excellence in Research and Creative Activity” award. He opened Bachmeier Pottery and Sculpture in 1993 and has artwork represented in over 45 states.

His ceramic vessels and sculpture tell the story of man's ancient and universal partnership with clay through the use of religion studies, global patterns, symbols, iconography, and various firing techniques. He is committed to creating work that can tell the story of humanity's shared virtues in a way that is contemporary and meaningful to our culture in the hope of helping to revive its collective conscience.

Introducing POTSTOCK 2014 Guest Ned Krouse

Ned Krouse of Haslet, Michigan specializes in colorful raku pottery. His pieces are removed from a kiln while red hot and smoked in a reduction chamber (usually a metal garbage can filled with straw and sawdust). Krouse has been a part of the teaching staff at the Potters' Guild since his move to the Lansing area in 2000. Since receiving an MFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, Ned has taught at numerous college, universities and art and craft centers throughout the country. His work has been included in national juried shows and solo exhibitions, and is a part of many corporate and private collections. His ceramic art can be viewed locally at the Lansing Art Gallery.

NOTSTOCK will be hosting Wild Hands' Album Release Party September 19th! The debut album is called "Oh, River" and was written and recorded in Minot, North Dakota.  This album is full of Americana / Bluegrass / Rock n' Roll sing alongs about rivers, oil booms, boomerangs, love, today, tomorrow, the someday soon, old bones, and just being a human really.  They will also be selling "Oh, River" Vinyl / CD's / Posters / T-Shirts / + more! Spread the word and get ready, this is going to be really amazing!

WORDSTOCK with Sierra DeMulder

We have confirmed slam poet, Sierra DeMulder, as our WORDSTOCK guest this year. DeMulder is one of the most accomplished and recognizable young women in the world of slam poetry. The two-time National Poetry Slam champion has spent the past five years energizing audiences across the nation, seamlessly weaving complex issues of identity and gender with the honesty of heartbreak. Her poetry not only proves to be an entertaining journey but inevitably leaves crowds reaching for more.

NOTSTOCK 2014 Improv Guest: Nick Hausman

This year, we have invited an improv comedian to perform and head improv workshops for NOTSTOCK 2014! Meet our guest Nick Hausman, a 10+ year veteran of the Chicago Improv scene. He has been an ensemble member for The Annoyance Theater, ComedySportz Chicago, pH Productions, The Playground and the iO Theater. While at iO he performed with the Harold teams The Republic, Alpine Valley and Whiskey Rebellion.

Currently, Nick dedicates most of his time to The Rebellion Network, of which he is the Founder and Owner. TRN is a collective of some of Chicago's best comics that produce podcasts and live shows on a weekly basis . For more info please visit www.TheRebellionNetwork.com
